வேட்க ளத்துறை வேதிய னெம்மிறை
ஆக்க ளேறுவ ரானைஞ்சு மாடுவர்
பூக்கள் கொண்டவன் பொன்னடி போற்றினால்
காப்பர் நம்மைக் கறைமிடற் றண்ணலே.

the vētiyaṉ;
one who gave out the vētams;
one who is considered the highest among the tēvars our Lord vēṭkaḷam is fixed in rhyme will ride upon bulls;
the bulls are of several kinds;
the bull which is the embodiment of aṟam, tirumāl who carried him during the destruction of the three cities and intiraṉ;
so the plural is used he will bathe himself in all the five products got from the cow it is called in sanskrit pañcakavviyam if we worship his feet as valuable as gold, with flowers.
the Lord with a black neck will protect us.

நிலைபெறுமா றெண்ணுதியேல் நெஞ்சே நீவா
    நித்தலுமெம் பிரானுடைய கோயில் புக்குப்
புலர்வதன்முன் அலகிட்டு மெழுக்கு மிட்டுப்
    பூமாலை புனைந்தேத்திப் புகழ்ந்து பாடித்
தலையாரக் கும்பிட்டுக் கூத்து மாடிச்
    சங்கரா சயபோற்றி போற்றி யென்றும்
அலைபுனல்சேர் செஞ்சடையெம் ஆதீ யென்றும்
    ஆரூரா என்றென்றே அலறா நில்லே.

O heart,
come here!
If you seek life eternal,
do these: Wake up before daybreak every day;
enter the premises Of our Lord`s shrine;
sweep the precincts (with a broom): Coat them with cow-dung;
weave garlands adoringly;
Sing His glory;
bow with your head and enact a dance;
Cry aloud in fervour thus: ``Hail Sankara!
All hail Sankara!
O Aadi in whose matted hair flows The river of billowy water!
O Lord of Aaroor!

பற்றிநின்ற பாவங்கள் பாற்ற வேண்டில்
    பரகதிக்குச் செல்வதொரு பரிசு வேண்டில்
சுற்றிநின்ற சூழ்வினைகள் வீழ்க்க வேண்டில்
    சொல்லுகேன் கேள்நெஞ்சே துஞ்சா வண்ணம்
உற்றவரும் உறுதுணையும் நீயே யென்றும்
    உன்னையல்லால் ஒருதெய்வம் உள்கே னென்றும்
புற்றரவக் கச்சார்த்த புனிதா வென்றும்
    பொழிலாரூ ராவென்றே போற்றா நில்லே.

O heart,
if you seek to annul attaching sins,
To gain the path leading to eternal life,
And vanquish the circumscribing karma,
Listen to what I say!
Praise Him thus,
even thus: ``You are my kin and help sure!
I will not think Of any God other than You!
O holy One whose waist Is cinctured with a serpent of the ant-hill O Lord of Aaroor girt with groves!

மதிதருவன் நெஞ்சமே உஞ்சு போக
    வழியாவ திதுகண்டாய் வானோர்க் கெல்லாம்
அதிபதியே ஆரமுதே ஆதீ யென்றும்
    அம்மானே ஆரூரெம் ஐயா வென்றும்
துதிசெய்து துன்றுமலர் கொண்டு தூவிச்
    சூழும் வலஞ்செய்து தொண்டு பாடிக்
கதிர்மதிசேர் சென்னியனே கால காலா
    கற்பகமே யென்றென்றே கதறா நில்லே.

O heart,
let me enlighten you;
this is the way For redemption;
cry with fervour thus: ``O Overlord Of the celestials!
O Nectar!
O Alpha!
O Chief!
O Sire of Aaroor!
`` Scattering fresh flowers Hail and adore Him;
circumambulate His shirne;
Render service;
sing and praise Him thus: ``O Lord In whose crest shines the bright-rayed moon!
O Kaalakaalaa!
O Karpaka!

44.
புலர்வதன்முன் திருவலகு
   பணிமாறிப் புனிறகன்ற
நலமலிஆன் சாணத்தால்
   நன்குதிரு மெழுக்கிட்டு
மலர்கொய்து கொடுவந்து
   மாலைகளும் தொடுத்தமைத்துப்
பலர்புகழும் பண்பினால்
   திருப்பணிகள் பலசெய்தார்.

Before day-break she would sweep clean the yard
And with blemishless cow-dung do the coating;
Flowers she would gather and weave them
Into wreaths and garlands; good many were her services
And the servitors of the Lord greatly admired them.

68.
நீறணிந்தார் அகத்திருளும்
   நிறைகங்குல் புறத்திருளும்
மாறவருந் திருப்பள்ளி
   எழுச்சியினில் மாதவஞ்செய்
சீறடியார் திருவலகுந்
   திருமெழுக்குந் தோண்டியுங்கொண்
டாறணிந்தார் கோயிலினுள்
   அடைந்தவரைக் கொடுபுக்கார்.

At the hour of pre-dawn divine which did away
With the inner murk of his who wore the sacred ash
And the inky darkness of the night,
The humble tapaswini with broom, cow-dung and pot,
All holy --, entered the temple of the Lord --
The Wearer of coursing river in His crown --,
Leading him that sought in her the palladium.
