There is no other god except Mahadeva

Thirumurai 5.100

வேத நாயகன் வேதியர் நாயகன்
மாதின் நாயகன் மாதவர் நாயகன்
ஆதி நாயக னாதிரை நாயகன்
பூத நாயகன் புண்ணிய மூர்த்தியே.

வேதங்களுக்கு நாயகனும், வேதியர்க்கு நாயகனும், உமாதேவியின் நாயகனும், பெருந்தவம் உடைய முனிவர்களுக்கு நாயகனும், ஆதிநாயகனும், ஆதிரை என்ற விண்மீனுக்கு நாயகனும், பூதங்களுக்கு நாயகனும் புண்ணியமூர்த்தி ஆவான்.

Civaṉ, the chief of the Vētam-s.
the chief of the people who know the Vētam-s.
the husband of the lady, Umai.
the master of the great sages.
the master who is the source of all.
the chief of the star, Ātirai.
and the master of the five elements.
is the god who is the visible embodiment of all virtuous acts.

செத்துச் செத்துப் பிறப்பதே தேவென்று
பத்தி செய்மனப் பாறைகட் கேறுமோ
அத்த னென்றரி யோடு பிரமனும்
துத்தி யஞ்செய நின்றநற் சோதியே.

மீண்டும் மீண்டும் செத்துச் செத்துப் பிறப்பதே தெய்வமென்று பொய்யாகக் கருதிப் பக்திசெய்யும் மனப்பாறை உடையவர்கட்கு இறைவன் என்று திருமாலோடு பிரமனும் துதி செய்யநின்ற சோதி உள்ளத்திற் பொருந்துமோ ?.

will my words reach the ears of people who have a mind as hard as a rock, who cherish with love minor gods who die many times and are born, thinking them to be possessing divinity.
Civaṉ is the brilliant light which is praised by Ari and Piramaṉ as their master.

நூறு கோடி பிரமர்கள் நொந்தினார்
ஆறு கோடி நாராயண ரங்ஙனே
ஏறு கங்கை மணலெண்ணி லிந்திரர்
ஈறி லாதவன் ஈச னொருவனே.

நூறுகோடி பிரமர்கள் அழிந்தனர் ; ஆறுகோடி திருமால்களும் அங்ஙனமே ஆயினார்கள் ; நீர் பொங்கிப்பெருகும் கங்கையாற்று மணலைவிட எண்ணிக்கையற்ற இந்திரர் நிலையும் அவ் வண்ணமே ; முடிவற்றவனாய்த் திகழ்பவன் ஒப்பற்றவனாகிய இறைவன் மட்டுமே.

Piramaṉ-s, numbering one hundred crores perished Nārāyaṇar-s, of six crores, shared the same fate.
Intirar who are countless like the sand of the superior Kaṅkai, also perished.
It is only Civaṉ, the Lord of the universe who does not perish.

வாது செய்து மயங்கும் மனத்தராய்
ஏது சொல்லுவீ ராகிலு மேழைகாள்
யாதோர் தேவ ரெனப்படு வார்க்கெலாம்
மாதே வன்னலால் தேவர்மற் றில்லையே.

அறிவற்றவர்களே ! ஒருவரோடொருவர் வாதம் செய்து மயங்கும் மனத்தை உடையவர்களாய் ஏது சொல்லுவீராகிலும், யாதோர் தேவர் எனப்படுவார்க்கெல்லாம் தேவன் மகாதேவனாகிய சிவபிரான் மட்டுமன்றி வேறு யாரும் இல்லை.

ignorant people!
if you say whatever you like, having a confused mind by entering into disputation.
for those who think who is the eminent god.
there is no other god except mahadevan Civaṉ.

கூவ லாமை குரைகட லாமையைக்
கூவ லோடொக்கு மோகட லென்றல்போல்
பாவ காரிகள் பார்ப்பரி தென்பரால்
தேவ தேவன் சிவன்பெருந் தன்மையே.

கிணற்றாமை கடலாமையை நோக்கி இக் கிணற்றோடொக்குமோ கடல் ? என்று கூறுதலைப்போன்று தேவ தேவனாகிய சிவபெருமானின் பெருந்தன்மையைப் பாவிகளாகிய மக்கள் பார்த்தற்கு அரிது என்பர்.

Just like the tortoise that lives in a well asks a tortoise that lives in the ocean, will the roaring ocean be as great as the well sinners cannot comprehend the greatness of Civaṉ who is superior to other minor gods;

பேய்வ னத்தமர் வானைப் பிரார்த்தித்தார்க்
கீவ னையிமை யோர்முடி தன்னடிச்
சாய்வ னைச்சல வார்கள் தமக்குடல்
சீவ னைச்சிவ னைச்சிந்தி யார்களே.

பேய்களோடு கூடிச் சுடுகாட்டில் அமர்வானும், வேண்டியிருந்தவர்களுக்கு அருள்வழங்குவானும், தேவர்கள் முடிகள் திருவடிகளில் சாய்க்கப்பெறுவானும், தமக்குடலினுள் சீவனுமாய்ச் சிவனுமாய் இருப்பவனை வஞ்சனை உடையவர்கள் சிந்தியார்கள்.

those who have deception.
Civaṉ who dwells with desire in the cremation-ground where pēys live.
who grants the wishes of those who pray to him.
before whose feet the celestial who do not wink, bow their head.
will not think of Civaṉ who is the life pervading their bodies.

எரிபெ ருக்குவ ரவ்வெரி யீசன
துருவ ருக்கம தாவ துணர்கிலார்
அரிய யற்கரி யானை யயர்த்துபோய்
நரிவி ருத்தம தாகுவர் நாடரே.

வேள்விகளில் அக்கினி வளர்ப்பார்கள் ; அவ்வக்கினி இறைவன் திருமேனி வகையாவது என்பதை உணரும் ஆற்றல் இல்லாதவர்கள் திருமாலுக்கும் பிரமனுக்கும் அரிய கடவுளைக் காண்டற்கு அயர்த்து நரிவிருத்தம் ஆகுவர்.

People will maintain and cause to increase fire which is in three different shapes.
they do not realise that fire is one of the eight forms of Civaṉ.
people in the country will be equal to the story of the fox, as they completely forget to have a vision of Civaṉ who is difficult to be seen by Ari and Ayaṉ;
The story of a fox in Pañcatāntiram is famous;
tiruttakkatēvar has done a work by name Nariviruttam based upon the story found in the pañcatantiram.

அருக்கன் பாதம் வணங்குவ ரந்தியில்
அருக்க னாவா னரனுரு வல்லனோ
இருக்கு நான்மறை யீசனை யேதொழும்
கருத்தி னைநினை யார்கன் மனவரே.

அந்தியில் சூரியன் பாதங்களை வணங்குவர் ; சூரியனாவான் சிவபெருமானின் உருவம் அல்லனோ ? இருக்கு முதலிய நான்கு வேதங்கள் இறைவனையே தொழும் கருத்தினைக் கல்மனம் படைத்தவர்களாய்ச் சிலர் நினைக்கமாட்டார்கள்.

people worship the feet of the sun both in the morning and the evening.
is not the sun one of the eight forms of Araṉ?
stone-hearted people will not understand the idea that the four Vētam-s beginning from Irukku worship only Civaṉ.

தாயி னும்நல்ல சங்கர னுக்கன்பர்
ஆய வுள்ளத் தமுதருந் தப்பெறார்
பேயர் பேய்முலை யுண்டுயிர் போக்கிய
மாயன் மாயத்துப் பட்ட மனத்தரே.

பேய்ப்பெண்ணினது பேய்முலைப்பாலினை உண்டு அவள் உயிர் போகச்செய்த திருமாலுடைய மாயத்துப் பொருந்திய மனத்தை உடையவர்கள் தாயினும் நல்லவனாகிய சங்கரனுக்கு அன்பர்கள் ஆகிய உள்ளத்து அமுது அருந்தப்பெறா இயல்பினராவர்.

people who behave like pēy and whose minds are caught in the guiles of dark-complexioned Māl who drank the milk from the breasts of pūtaṉai, who came in the form of a pey and made her lose her life.
do not have the fortune of enjoying the grace which secretes in the hearts of the devotees who cherish with love Cankaraṉ who is more affectionate than the mother.

அரக்கன் வல்லரட் டாங்கொழித் தாரருள்
பெருக்கச் செய்த பிரான் பெருந் தன்மையை
அருத்தி செய்தறி யப்பெறு கின்றிலர்
கருத்தி லாக்கய வக்கணத் தோர்களே.

கருத்தில்லாத கீழ்மைக்குணமுடைய மக்கள், இராவணனது வலிய அரட்டுத்தன்மையினை ஒழித்துப் பின்னும் பேரருள் பெருக்கச்செய்த சிவபெருமானின் பெருந்தன்மையை விருப்பம் புரிந்து அறியப்பெறுகிலர் ஆவர்.

the hosts of low people who do not have the thought of saving themselves.
do not know the magnanimity of the master who granted his rare grace in an abundant measure to the arakkaṉ, Irāvaṇaṉ after destroying his mischief of lifting Kayilai, when he cherished Civaṉ with love.
