அந்தியும் நண்பகலும் அஞ்சுப தம்சொல்லி
முந்தி எழும்பழைய வல்வினை மூடாமுன்
சிந்தை பராமரியாத் தென்திரு வாரூர்புக்
கெந்தை பிரானாரை என்றுகொல் எய்துவதே
நின்ற வினைக்கொடுமை நீங்க இருபொழுதும்
துன்று மலரிட்டுச் சூழும் வலஞ்செய்து
தென்றன் மணங்கமழுந் தென்திரு வாரூர்புக்
கென்றன் மனங்குளிர என்றுகொல் எய்துவதே
முன்னை முதற்பிறவி மூதறி யாமையினால்
பின்னை நினைந்தனவும் பேதுற வும்மொழியச்
செந்நெல் வயற்கழனித் தென்திரு வாரூர்புக்
கென்னுயிர்க் கின்னமுதை என்றுகொ லெய்துவதே
நல்ல நினைப்பொழிய நாள்களில் ஆருயிரைக்
கொல்ல நினைப்பனவும் குற்றமும் அற்றொழியச்
செல்வ வயற்கழனித் தென்திரு வாரூர்புக்
கெல்லை மிதித்தடியேன் என்றுகொல் எய்துவதே
கடுவரி மாக்கடலுட் காய்ந்தவன் தாதையைமுன்
சுடுபொடி மெய்க்கணிந்த சோதியை வன்றலைவாய்
அடுபுலி ஆடையனை ஆதியை ஆரூர்புக்
கிடுபலி கொள்ளியைநான் என்றுகொல் எய்துவதே
சூழொளி நீர்நிலந்தீத் தாழ்வளி ஆகாசம்
வாழுயர் வெங்கதிரோன் வண்டமிழ் வல்லவர்கள்
ஏழிசை ஏழ்நரம்பின் ஓசையை ஆரூர்புக்
கேழுல காளியைநான் என்றுகொல் எய்துவதே
கொம்பன நுண்ணிடையாள் கூறனை நீறணிந்த
வம்பனை எவ்வுயிர்க்கும் வைப்பினை ஒப்பமரர்
செம்பொனை நன்மணியைத் தென்திரு வாரூர்புக்
கென்பொனை என்மணியை என்றுகொல் எய்துவதே
ஆறணி நீள்முடிமேல் ஆடர வஞ்சூடிப்
பாறணி வெண்டலையிற் பிச்சைகொள் நச்சரவன்
சேறணி தண்கழனித் தென்திரு வாரூர்புக்
கேறணி எம்மிறையை என்றுகொல் எய்துவதே
மண்ணினை உண்டுமிழ்ந்த மாயனும் மாமலர்மேல்
அண்ணலும் நண்ணரிய ஆதியை மாதினொடும்
திண்ணிய மாமதில்சூழ் தென்திரு வாரூர்புக்
கெண்ணிய கண்குளிர என்றுகொல் எய்துவதே
மின்னெடுஞ் செஞ்சடையான் மேவிய ஆரூரை
நன்னெடுங் காதன்மையால் நாவலர் கோன்ஊரன்
பன்னெடுஞ் சொன்மலர்கொண் டிட்டன பத்தும்வல்லார்
பொன்னுடை விண்ணுலகம் நண்ணுவர் புண்ணியரே
"In order to get rid of my abiding evil karma, I wish to worship Siva (the Lord of my father) to my heart's content, in the morning and evening with a lot of flowers and go around Him (perform pradakshiNam) in beautiful thiruvArUr, where cool fragrant breeze blows. When will that day come!"
In the many prior births, due to the great ignorance, arose desires leading to confusion and suffering. I wish to get rid of those by going to thiruvArUr, that is surrounded by fertile fields growing excellent rice varieties, and reach Siva, who is like sweet nectar to my soul. When will that day come!
On those days when good thoughts leave my mind, thoughts that take away dear life and other faults occur. Getting rid of such thoughts completely, I wish to step inside the borders of beautiful thiruvArUr, that is surrounded by fertile rice fields, and reach Siva, who is like sweet nectar to my soul. When will that day come!"
Siva is the father of Murugan who destroyed sUrapadman when he (sUrapadman) was hiding in the sea in the disguise of poison colored mango tree. Siva wears the holy ash on His body. He accepts alms in the strong skull of Brahma. He wears the skin of a ferocious tiger. He is the primal source of everything. When will that day come when I enter thiruvArUr and worship Him!
"Siva manifests Himself in the five elements - earth, water, fire, wind, and space. He is the sun that radiates heat. He is the music of seven notes defined by the tamil scholars. He is music that flows from the seven stringed lute/veenai. He rules all the seven worlds. When will that day come when I enter thiruvArUr and worship Him!
"Siva has as His one half the twig-like slender waisted pArvathi. He wears fragrant Holy ash. He is the treasure(emergency reserve fund) for all living beings. He is cherished by all devas. He is very dear to me. When will that day come when I enter thiruvArUr and worship Him!
"Siva wears Ganga river and a swaying snake on his matted locks. He accepts alms in the white skull that attracts hawks/vultures. He wears poisonous snakes on His body. He has the bull sign on His flag. I wish to enter beautiful thiruvArUr, that is surrounded by cool fertile fields, and reach Siva. When will that day come!
"Siva is the source of all things. He could not be reached by Vishnu (who swallowed and regurgitated the earth) and Brahma (who is seated on a beautiful lotus flower). I wish to enter beautiful thiruvArUr, that is surrounded by a strong big fort, and worship Him and Parvathi to my heart's content. When will that day come!
"Siva has long bright lightning-like matted locks. He dwells in thiruvArUr. nambi ArUran (sundarar), the chief of thiru~nAvalUr, has great love for Him and has adorned Him with this garland of ten songs with many great words. All those who worship Siva with this garland will accrue all virtues and reach the golden world of the divines
